This is one of our local pet shops. We also use Pets at Home. Southern Aquatics has an extensive range of marine, fresh (pond and tank) and tropical fish with all the associated equipment, plants, filters, aerators, pumps, ornaments, food, etc, you could want. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They also have a wide and extensive range of insects, birds, hamsters and other aquatic creatures as well as cat, dog and wild bird foods, accessories and equipment. Their prices are competitive. Sometimes you can get things cheaper on the internet but not by much. Their range is generally more extensive than Pets at Home although with vouchers, Pets at Home is also worth a look and probably has a better range of guinea pigs and rabbits. Overall I would say Southern Acquatics is a favourite and is fun to visit, especially with children, even if just browsing. We have been there loads of times and have never been disappointed with our purchases although sometimes I have regretted not buying it there in the first place when, for example, I got my Amazon air pumps and found they had EU plugs. (Loads of parking and easy access)
Great store we bought a praying mantis and 2 crested geckos and the gentlemen that served us was great very helpful kept checking up on us to see if we needed anymore help giving us all the information we needed and just over all very helpful and made us a priority I recommend this store to anyone that needed any sort of reptile or bug and they have a lovely selection of fish as well great service I will be back.
A large store that appears to cater for a wide variety of different animals as pets. In addition to fish and other aquatic pets products for other pets. On the most recent visit miniature tortoises were on display as well as other small animals and birds. But you can also get bird feeders for the garden and food to go in them. There is a large free car park outside.
Store is really good with lots of variety, staff friendly, however you may have to be very clear with them what you want, as in my experience they do not always understand what you are looking for or need advice on, it is like they are told to only offer one solution or give you a vague non committing answer, especially with illnesses, however that being said other larger chain pet shops are no better. Not bought any animals from here so cannot comment on this, however dry goods appear to be okay, my fish like their food . Watch out for the fish Tax as well = . Owning any pet seems expensive these days, 10 + & you might need more money than you think, look online before you buy is my advice, you will definitely save a few
This is almost my favourite place. I love the marine fish,tropical fish, lizards etc etc. Huge range of accessories for all pets and foods. It's like a visit to the zoo with free entry. I always buy something. You must go, it's brilliant.
