Pure gym isn't actually that accurate as it also houses several vending machines, showers and toilets. Oh and stairs, there's even a sign saying how many stairs there are, why? Cause we're obviously interested in such statistics, I personally want to know how many carpet tiles they're using. The public has a right to know. ITS A GOOD GYM, seriously though, it's got everything you need to train your body into better. Everything it doesn't have you don't need and you should stop being so greedy. Except for sleds, Bournemouth has those and they destroy my legs more than anything.
Joined last week as my work doesn't allow me to go to my normal gym. This gym is definitely a 'commercial' gym but that being said the equipment all seems in good working order and well maintained there was a rowing machine out of action (we will see how long for?) But everything else was good. The price for what you get is amazing to be honest.
Decent price, very well equipped gym. Many classes running daily and they're killers!
Clean up at this gym needs to be reinforced way more firmly. Almost every time my friends and I visit one of us comes down with a cold. Sanitizer wipes should be available like every other gym in the country because absolutely nobody brings a wipe down towel with them, leaving the equipment drenched in sweat and germs. I've seen gum stuck in the cup holders of the treadmills multiple times. It's gross and people aren't encouraged enough to keep the area clean, I guess because the tiny poster on the wall is easily avoidable and we kind of expect the staff who sit in the staff room chatting all the time to do it as part of their job. There's also zero resources available to correctly clean the area after use (sanitizer wipes for example). The penalty for not keeping the area clean, if the staff are not going to do it, should be way more firm. Also the hand wash gel in the bathrooms is Poundland cheap stuff - it does nothing. It's not an antibacterial hand wash and literally just makes your hand smell of a slight scent. No wonder germs are being spread around this gym like crazy. I've seen members walking around bare foot too - absolutely NOT tolerated in any other gym chain in the country due to the spread of disease. This is also the only gym I've been to that people leave their mobile phones on the floor while they work out then give you the side eye when you walk past it to grab a weight. Very strange culture and I think it comes from the fact that rules aren't insisted upon. This gym is sue central - weights being left on the floor which can easily and severely hurt someone and filthy equipment which can lead to infections and illness, especially those members who have weak immune system and/or disability. I understand Puregym encourages their members to wipe down the equipment on one of their posters, but it's not realistic, people don't go to the gym in their minimal spare time to stand there with a pack of wet wipes wiping everything down, so people tend to grin and bear it. The manager for this gym really needs to screw their head on with the new year coming about the hygiene in the place. Access to wet wipes, genuine antibacterial hand wash available in the bathrooms, staff wiping down equipment regularly, penalties for people walking around barefoot.
Worst gym!I tried to go to this 24 hours open. But you see, during the night you don't have access to a changing room or showers. Only place you have to change without a shower is in front of a big windows where everyone from the street can see you. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!! I tried to speak with someone to get a refund. But surprise, the help/customer line is managed by an extremely rude person. I told him again about the problem and again responded me with an extremely rude mail. So I have asked for a manager for the refund. I'm waiting for 4 month now to get a manger response. Apparently that Pure Gym is running with no manager, and just a verry uneducated thing, not even a human. I have paied and not used the gym because of the mentioned problems. So I'm still waiting for a refund. But I do not think I will see it. So this good is the Pure Gym!
